The Australian shepherd-mix puppies were found on Nov. 16, dumped near a fence at a plastics recycling facility in Royal Oaks, southeast of Watsonville. The puppies were hungry, dehydrated, and ridden with fleas and worms.
The SPCA is considering prospective pet owners from a list of more than 100 people who have expressed interest in adopting the pups since news of their abandonment broke.
"The puppies have gotten a lot of TLC from our staff and volunteers, and now they're all ready to go into their great new homes, and we have a lot of adopters lined up for them," SPCA for Monterey County spokeswoman Beth Brookhouser said.
She said one of the puppies, Ernie, has already gone home with his new family. The other five are named Grover, Elmo, Bert, Lily and Zoe.
A seventh pup, Felix, was discovered on Nov. 22, and will be available for adoption early next week, Brookhouser said.
The SPCA has offered a $500 reward leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or people responsible for abandoning the puppies, but so far the case remains unsolved.

Brookhouser also encouraged prospective pet adopters to consider taking home another of the SPCA's animals up for adoption.
"They might not have the story that these guys have, but they all have their own unique stores," she said.
