Mayor Ed Lee sworn in at City Hall

SAN FRANCISCO

The mayor and his family were welcomed with a trumpet fanfare at City Hall. Former Mayor Willie Brown served as master of ceremonies and Sen. Dianne Feinstein administered the oath of office. All 11 living former mayors of San Francisco were at the inauguration.

Lee is the first elected Asian-American to serve as the city's mayor. He acted as interim mayor for a year when Gavin Newsom left to become lieutenant governor.

At first Lee resisted running for office but he changed his mind when it became evident that there was a groundswell of support for him in the community.
