60-year-old Joanne Seeney and 35-year-old Vika Sinipata are accused of embezzling some $450,000 from the district. Prosecutors say they gave themselves extra pay and bogus time off and also boosted their pay grades.
It turns out Seeney had been arrested on embezzlement charges in 2007 before getting her current job. The county hired her without a criminal background check. They are doing criminal background checks now.
In the meantime, Seeney was already serving time in state prison after pleading guilty to that previous embezzlement charge.
