Man steals stuffed animal for companionship

BAKERSFIELD, Calif.

Police found Henry Slivers sitting on the sidewalk a couple of blocks away from the Buena Vista Museum. He was petting a taxidermied dingo that had been taken from the museum. Police spotted Slivers while they were looking for someone who had stolen a stuffed leopard.

Slivers says he took the leopard first, then went back for the dingo. "I was sitting in my room. I don't got TV or radio. I just thought, well I'll be a cat burglar today,'" he said.

A museum spokeswoman says the break-in damaged several exhibits, which will cost thousands of dollars to repair.
