Eight robberies were reported last month, six occurred in just the span of a week. Compare that to January 2011 when the campus had just one robbery. Officials say most of the robberies have occurred on the south side of campus during late night or early morning hours, but at least one happened in the middle of the day.
Investigators believe the increase may be due to a higher number of students in the area. Campus police now plan to step up patrols.
