Seton Medical Center fined for resident's death

DALY CITY, Calif.

Seton Medical Center, located at 1900 Sullivan Ave., received a "AA" citation and a $100,000 fine after a CDPH investigation concluded that inadequate care led to the death of a resident, according state public health officers.

The department said the facility failed to protect the resident when it did not provide proper respiratory care.

California has the legal authority to impose fines against nursing facilities it licenses. Citations are categorized as Class B, A, or AA and are associated with fines starting at $100 and topping off at $100,000, department officials said.
