The final bell rang for a retired firefighter in Crockett Saturday when a real bell sounded during the service. The firefighters wasted no time slipping gear over their dress clothes then raced to the burning dry cleaners building less than a block away.
Numerous fire crews in town for the service helped fight the flames and evacuate elderly residents from a nearby retirement home. Lint buildup in the historic laundromat is believed to have sparked the two-alarm blaze.
No one was hurt
