The Pew foundation says: 83 percent of U.S. internet users rated the Mountain View company as their preferred choice. That's up from 47 percent in 2004. Yahoo! ranked a distant second place at six percent, down from 26 percent.
However, the Pew findings also indicate Google may be risking its popularity with its new privacy policy.
Earlier this month, the internet giant started a new plan to make it easier for it to collect user information across all of its services and websites.
