Task force seizes more than 500 pot plants

SAN MATEO, Calif.

The San Mateo County Narcotics Task Force, along with the San Mateo Police Department, led an undercover investigation involving a single-family home in the 1200 block of 31st Avenue, authorities said.

Law enforcement officials seized some 530 marijuana plants, with a potential street value of about $400,000, county officials said.

Task force officials said the operation was strictly for-profit and had no connection with the medical marijuana industry.

The home's occupant, Lin Tang, 49, of San Mateo was arrested on suspicion of illegal marijuana cultivation. He was booked into the Maguire Correctional Facility in Redwood City on $15,000 bail.

He is scheduled to be arraigned at the San Mateo County Northern Superior Court Monday at 1:30 p.m.
