On Wednesday, the transit agency will put a train car on a truck and drive it to the site of the future Berryessa BART station for an afternoon ceremony. The Berryessa extension will cost almost $3 billion.
When it is completed, the extension will run nearly 16 miles from Fremont to the Berryessa area of East San Jose. The project will create more than 1,600 construction jobs.
Construction on the extension is slated to be finished by 2015.
