2 injured in separate stabbings

SAN JOSE, Calif.

The first occurred at East Santa Clara Street and North Ninth Street around 11:25 p.m., when a 36-year-old man was stabbed by an unknown suspect, police said.

After giving police an inconsistent account regarding where the crime happened, the man was transported to a hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening, police said.

Police were unable to locate any witnesses, but said they do not believe the crime was gang-related.

The second stabbing occurred in the 2500 block of Chant Court, where a man was attacked with punches and stabs around 11:55 p.m.

The victim fought back, and suffered several stab wounds. He was also taken to a hospital for treatment and is expected to survive.
