Unearthing the Bay Area's lost Chinatown

SAN JOSE, Calif.

Students in classes of Stanford University anthropology professor Barbara Voss have been sifting through the thousands of pieces, cataloging them. More than half of them are still in storage

While Stanford studies their historic importance, the art exhibit touches on their artistic, aesthetic and emotional impact.

There were 5 San Jose Chinatowns. All but the last one burned down.

The ICA show opens officially June 15 and runs through Sept. 16.
