Two people were injured in a shooting in North Richmond this morning, a Contra Costa County Sheriff's Office spokesman said.

The shooting was reported near the intersection of West Ruby and First streets in unincorporated North Richmond around 10:20 a.m., sheriff's spokesman Jimmy Lee said.

One or more suspects shot the two victims and then fled the scene in a car, Lee said.

Arriving deputies found the victims suffering from gunshot wounds. Both were taken to a nearby hospital. Lee said he did not know the extent of their injuries.
