Study links early menopause to heart disease risk

ALABAMA

Doctors at the University of Alabama at Birmingham found that women who undergo menopause before age 46 are twice as likely to suffer a heart attack or stroke. The study included a racially-diverse group of 2,500 women.

Doctors say the reason behind the link is still unclear, but there's no evidence hormone replacement lowers the danger. hey say women at risk should keep their cholesterol and blood pressure in check.
