Firefighters have controlled a two-alarm house fire that burned in San Jose Wednesday afternoon, a fire captain said.

The fire was reported just before 1 p.m. at a home in the 800 block of North 12th Street.

Fire Capt. Mary Gutierrez said around 1:10 p.m. that crews had arrived at the two-story home and that thick smoke and flames were coming from the second story and the garage.

She said firefighters were searching the residence to make sure there was no one inside.

A dispatcher said the fire has been controlled and that no injuries were reported.
