Firefighters have secured a leak at Evergreen Oil in Newark

Plant personnel and firefighters have secured a leak at Evergreen Oil in Newark. Crews have been released and one engine will remain at the scene on standby.

According to the Alameda County Fire Department, superheated oil leaked which caused a possible fire hazard. Approximately 70 people were evacuated from the building as a safety precaution. There was one medical complaint and no other injuries were reported. The plant is located at Smith Avenue and Cherry Street.
