Federal officials, including Secretary of Transportation Ray LaHood and Mayor Ed Lee are at the event breaking ground on a 221 foot air traffic control tower and base building. Federal aviation officials said the critical infrastructure project will create local jobs and increase safety for air travelers. The new tower is expected to be completed in 2014.
