STAND! For Families Free of Violence, a non-profit agency that provides shelter and counseling for families dealing with domestic violence, is going through a big cutback in jobs because of a lack of donations.

The Concord non-profit received about $300,000 less in donations this year than in 2011, according to a Contra Costa Times report.

Executive Director Gloria Sandoval says more calls than ever are coming into the shelter's hotlines. The secret shelter is almost always full. Last year, 15,000 calls came in compared to 13,000 calls in 2008.

If you would like to help, you can attend the STAND! Rebuilding Lives Luncheon. Cheryl Jennings will be emceeing the event on October 4.
