Plastic bottles source of explosions heard in Fairfield

FAIRFIELD, Calif.

Police were informed at 6:17 a.m. that residents had heard explosions on Hickory Avenue near Linden Avenue, police Lt. Greg Hurlbut said.

Officers found plastic debris from four bottles and a fifth unexploded bottle, Hurlbut said.

Residents were told to shelter in place, and the Yolo County sheriff's bomb squad responded and rendered the fifth bottle safe, Hurlbut said.

Police were interviewing neighbors and collecting evidence this morning, Hurlbut said.
