Stolen St. Bernadette statue returned to church

CAMPBELL, Calif.

The Saint Bernadette statue was taken from the St. Mary's Assyrian Chaldean Catholic Church, located at 109 N. First St., sometime between last Thursday night and Friday morning, Sgt. Gary Berg said.

It was found today in a parking lot behind 256 E. Hamilton Ave. after a tip came in around 11:50 a.m., police said.

The statue was found undamaged wrapped up in the lot less than a mile away from the church.

Officers processed the statue for evidence and confirmed that it was the church's stolen statue, police said.

It was returned to the church, whose members told police they were thankful it had been returned.

Police have no suspects in the theft and no arrests have been made.
