Quan, MLB meet to discuss port-ballpark plan

OAKLAND, Calif.

Last week's meeting reportedly included a new proposal to build a waterfront stadium at the Port of Oakland's Howard Terminal. A's owner Lew Wolff was not at the meeting, but has said before that the site is not an option.

Someone who was at the meeting is the CEO of Clorox, who has suggested Wolff sell the team to a group willing to keep the A's in Oakland.

Mayor Quan would only say she remains committed to a new stadium at the Coliseum site, "We still think that we'll have a couple of teams and that we're going to have a major convention center there with the airport connector, and new retail, and new housing. So Coliseum City is going to happen no matter what the configuration of teams are."

Representatives from Major League Baseball also met with San Jose officials to get an update on plans to build a downtown stadium for the A's.
