Reward offered after teen girl shot in Oakland

OAKLAND, Calif.

The shooting happened outside a store at Talbot Avenue and Foothill Boulevard in East Oakland around 10:30 Wednesday night. The 16-year-old has been identified as Tattiauon Turner, a student at Oakland High School. She died at the scene.

On Thursday, friends and family members gathered at the scene to remember the Turner, who became a mother last November. One witness told ABC7 News that the girl and three others had just left the store when two men approached and opened fire.

"It happened so quick. I just couldn't believe it because it just never happens this close, in our neighborhood like this. This is just ridiculous and I just wish all this killing and these guns would just stop," he said.

Sadly, the girl's family has been struck by gun violence before. Her father, William Turner, was shot and killed four years ago and her 15-year-old cousin was killed last month.

Police say the second victim in Wednesday night's shooting, a 23-year-old Fremont man suffered non-life threatening injuries.
