Get ready for the best natural light show of the year, but to see it, you'll have to get away from city lights.

The Perseid meteor shower peaks late Saturday night and early Sunday morning.

The meteors are described as streaking piles of dirt that collide with Earth's atmosphere and burn up at a speed of 100,000 mph.

Astronomers predict 50 to 100 meteors an hour with the best viewing between 10 p.m. and 4 a.m.
