Petaluma advances in Little League World Series

PETALUMA, Calif.

The Petaluma National Little League team beat a Fairfield, Conn., team 6-4 this afternoon in the double-elimination tournament in South Williamsport, Pa.

At 11 a.m. Pacific time on Sunday, the team -- which won the West Region championship for a chance at the World Series title -- will play the winner of a game later today between the Midwest Region champs from Kearney, Neb., and the Southeast Region champs from Goodlettsville, Tenn.

If the Petaluma team had lost today, it would have played the loser of the Midwest-Southeast game on Saturday. The loser of that game will be eliminated from the tournament.

Petaluma National pitcher Bradley Smith had four hits -- including a home run -- in four at-bats, and drove in three runs. Smith gave up five hits and two runs and struck out seven batters in four innings.

Petaluma Nationals pitcher Andrew White gave up one hit and two runs and struck out three batters in the last two innings.

Catcher Austin Paretti had one hit and two runs batted in, and first baseman Danny Marzo had one hit and one run batted in.

The Petaluma National team committed three errors in the game.
