Teeth brushing could have affect on elderly men's mental health

It's not just keeping fit that boosts brain power. Having good oral hygiene can lower the risk of developing dementia later in life.

U.C. researchers found that elderly men who brushed their teeth less than once a day were 65 percent more likely to develop dementia compared to people who brushed daily.

It's thought that gum disease bacteria might get into the brain affecting one's mental health.

The study also found that the effect was not seen in women.
