A U.S. Coast Guard Cutter deployed from its homeport at Coast Guard Island in Alameda back in March. It returned Saturday morning.

The Cutter's return follows a 161 day, 38,000 nautical mile deployment in the Western Pacific and Southeast Asia where it conducted operations with U.S. Naval Forces.

The Cutter is named after Admiral Russell Waesche, the Coast Guard's longest serving commandant who is credited with expanding the Coast Guard's mission.
