"Hansel" is a dachshund and Kristi is his owner. Asked what her dog might say about what kind of woman she is Kristi replied, "That I'm fiercely independent and I'm sassy."
Some say your dog speaks volumes about you, especially to a potential partner. That's the idea behind a free iPhone app that's making waves at the TechCrunch Disrupt Conference. It's connecting people by way of their pets and learning some interesting things in the process.
Alejandro Russo created "Klooff," a social network that mimics what happens at a dog park. "They start sniffing each other and then the owners start talking to each other. That's like the general interaction. So, with Klooff, we did the same thing," he says. "If you're a guy and you want to get a date, then you should definitely get a husky or a German shepherd. That really works like a charm."
According to Klooff's research, German shepherds top the list of breeds that make men more attractive to women, followed by Golden and Labrador retrievers, Siberian huskies and yes, French bulldogs. Pit bulls did not make the top five. The study showed women find guys with pit bulls a little sketchy.
Asked what breed of dog she thought would make a woman the most eligible to a man, Kristi laughingly replied, "A dachshund of course." Sadly, the wiener dog did not make the list. The study showed men are most attracted to women with Golden and Labrador retrievers, Chihuahuas, poodles, and beagles.
However, "We found that Chihuahuas actually, people that have Chihuahuas, they're considered not as intelligent as people that don't have Chihuahuas," Russo said. The study found that men often see women with Chihuahuas as a one-night stand. A golden retriever means she's girlfriend material.
Still, whatever the breed, Russo says dogs make your dating life better and who could argue with that?
