Emergency crews in Placer County safely rescued a base jumper stuck in a tree 70 feet above the ground.

CAL FIRE responded to the scene in Auburn under the Forest Hill Bridge just before nine last night. It took crews several hours to free the man, but they finally got him out of the tree around 2:15 this morning. CAL FIRE says base jumping is a frequent problem at the bridge. Base jumping involves using a parachute to jump from stationary objects, like bridges or other high objects.
