Cutting edge HIV/AIDS research facility opens in SF

SAN FRANCISCO

Bridge HIV was completed with a grant from the National Institutes of Health. The 17,000 foot space has been completely renovated. Officials say it's the only facility of its kind housed in a U.S. public health department.

"State and federal funds may have been waning," Lee said. "We stood up and said we are continuing this fight at the highest level to make sure we fund everything we can to end this AIDS epidemic."

The mayor had a firsthand look at the renovation. There's a lot more space for clinical trials and research, and the facility has a brand new laboratory and patient exam rooms.
