We've reported many times about a so-called "tech support scams," now federal regulators say they've shut down six big operations overseas.

The scammers operate by posing as tech support workers for major companies like Microsoft. They called consumers claiming they needed to remove malware detected in the customers' computers. The scammers then persuade their victims to pay up to $450 for the service.

The Federal Trade Commission obtained a court injunction shutting down six of these operations, located primarily in India. Officials said their phone lines were cut off.
