Pakistani police make arrests in shooting of girl

MINGORA, Pakistan

Malala Yousufzai was promoting education for girls when the attack happened. She and two other girls were shot Tuesday in a school bus on their way home from school. Doctors say she is in satisfactory condition and is being kept unconscious.

Pakistani police say they've made a number of arrests in connection with the shooting. The Taliban claims it decided two months ago to assassinate the teenager after they learned of her campaign.

The shooting sparked outrage around the country and world and an outpouring of support for a girl who took on the Taliban.
