Republican senate candidate in campaign spotlight

Republican senate candidate Richard Mourdock from Indiana, who has found himself in a starring role in an anti-Romney ad.

Romney endorsed Mourdock in Indiana, but that was before Mourdock said this Tuesday night: "I believe that life begins at conception. I think that even when life begins in that horrible situation of rape that it is something that God intended to happen."

On Wednesday Mourdock reiterated his belief that abortions should be illegal for women who were pregnant because they were raped.

The Romney campaign issued a statement saying Romney disagrees with Mourdocks comments, but supporters of the president have already married the Romney endorsement ad to the debate video in their own 30 second spot.

And from Donald Trump, there's another side show. The real estate mogul and reality show star is offering $5 million to the president's charity of choice if Obama will release his college and passport records.

"The president will become transparent, like other presidents," said Trump.

For the record, Trump is wrong about that, it is not common practice for presidents to release school and passport records.

And finally Gloria Allred is getting into the game, she's claiming to have dirt on Romney. Allred went to a Boston courthouse Wednesday morning, with the ex-wife of Staples founder Tom Stemberg. Romney testified in the divorce case on behalf of Stemberg who was a business partner.

And remember Clint Eastwood's convention speech? Well he's back in a campaign ad for Romney. In an ad he said, "There's not much time left and the future of our country is as stake."

Not to be outdone...the Obama campaign issued a new ad with its biggest star -- former President Bill Clinton. In the ad Clinton says, "The same people said my ideas would destroy jobs and they've called me every name in the book."

The candidates are pulling out all the stops and apparently so are their supporters. A new ABC-Washington Post poll shows it is a dead heat.
