Freshly caught crabs arrive on SF docs

SAN FRANCISCO

Boaters set their traps on Wednesday and returned just one day later with barrels full of crabs.

The fishermen say the crabs are a good size this year and they expect to sell lots of them for Thanksgiving.

"They are heavier and have more meat," said crab fisherman Danny Murray.

"The size is good, the quality is really good and we're really excited we're going to have fresh Dungeness crab for Thanksgiving," said Joe Pezzolo from Pezzolo's seafood.

Medium-sized boats walked away with about $3,000 for their first catch.

Inspectors were also there to make sure no females or small crabs were trapped. Crabs should be hitting stores Bay Area-wide by this weekend.
