Head-on crash cleared from the Golden Gate Bridge

The CHP has not released details of what caused the minor injury accident, but there was heavy fog and slick conditions at the time of the crash. The accident was reported near the north tower on the Marin County side of the span at 8:11 a.m. A Sig-alert was issued at 8:22 a.m. and was canceled at 9:05 a.m.

All northbound traffic was temporarily stopped and two southbound lanes were also blocked. Commuters were backed up for miles approaching the bridge; northbound traffic was backed up throughout San Francisco and even into South San Francisco; southbound traffic was stopped to Corte Madera. Some people reported that their normal 20 minute commute from the North Bay turned into over two hours.
