Study: Cancer risk from UV nail lamps is low

For the study, researchers measured radiation from typical nail lamps. They found that even if used weekly for 250 years, the risk of getting skin cancer was low.

The finding contradicts the feeling of many dermatologists that say the devices are as harmful as tanning beds. Most dermatologist recommend using sunscreen when using UV nail lamps.

The study appears in the Journal of Investigative Dermatology.
