'Operation Dream' holds Toy Drive at 49ers game

SAN FRANCISCO

Outside Candlestick Park, members of 'Operation Dream' called out for donated toys. The annual toy drive is also partnered by the 49ers and the San Francisco Police Department.

Last year fans brought in 20,000 toys. Organizers hope to top that this year. They say even a small gift can make a huge difference.

"The kids, they need to know that people care about them," toy drive volunteer Cathy Quinlan-Perez said. "They need to know that it's so much bigger than where they live. There's a whole world out there that they get to experience. And so, when they know that people care about them, they start to go 'oh! There's more to life."'

The gifts will be distributed throughout the city to children in public housing.
