Man rescued from Napa River

NAPA, Calif.

The 911 call went out about noon Monday that a man was in the Napa River and needed rescuing. Firefighters went into action and threw the man a rope pulling him to the banks. The dramatic rescue took about 10 minutes. A ladder was brought in for assistance and the victim climbed out. Firefighters say with the river so high, there was no time to waste.

Firefighters said the man was good spirits and possibly intoxicated. He was taken to the hospital to be treated for hypothermia.

He told authorities he jumped into the river because it sounded like a fun thing to do.
