The DMV will begin taking orders for retro license plates on January 1. They are modeled after ones the agency issued back in the 50s, 60s and 70s.
The legacy plates aren't a sure thing though. The DMV says they'll need to get at least 7,500 by 2015 to start the program. The price for a plate is $50.
The program was started to give classic car owners a way to get plates that match the era of their cars.
