Journalist to speak about captivity in North Korea

SAN JOSE

Ling had been reporting on the trafficking of North Korean women when she and colleague Euna Lee were detained by soldiers along the China-North Korea border.

Jailed for 140 days, Ling and Lee eventually received a special pardon from North Korean officials and returned to the U.S.

Ling has worked for the Current TV series "Vanguard" and has sought to shine a light on human trafficking and imprisoned journalists around the world.

She is scheduled to appear Monday at the California Theatre at 345 S. First St. in San Jose. The event begins at 7:30 p.m.
