A state legislator wants to make it a crime for federal officials to hold terror suspects indefinitely. Republican Assemblyman Tim Donnelly from San Bernardino County is sponsoring the bill.

It would charge federal officials with a misdemeanor if they hold terror suspects in California without trying them in court. Donnelly says he wants to fight terrorism while preventing the federal government from over-reaching its authority.
