Centerpointe Christian Preschool reopens after child allegedly tied up

PLEASANTON, Calif.

The school has been closed since Friday. Teachers were attending a statewide early childhood conference.

A former teacher, identified as Angela Calcagno, is accused of taping a two-year-old child at the wrists and the ankles because the girl refused to take a nap. Officials said Calcagno took pictures of the girl sitting bound on a cot and shared those pictures with teachers and the girl's mother.

Calcagno no longer works at the school; she resigned before the accusations surfaced.

The school held a meeting with parents. Police and the California Department of Social Services are investigating the case.

Centerpointe Christian has released this statement: "The staff has made some adjustments to the program to better serve the children and their families. We are looking forward to welcoming them."
