Massive landslide destroys home on island near Seattle

Mud and debris from a massive landslide has destroyed one home and is threatening many more homes on Whidbey Island, located about 30 miles north of Seattle.

Authorities say the hillside is still sliding and have issued evacuation orders. The earth has just disappeared, along with people's backyards and property.

It's not clear exactly what caused the slide. Officials think it might have been due to too much moisture accumulating in the ground.

Thirty-four homes are under evacuation orders and more may be issued as the ground continues to wash away.
