Ohio officers hailed as heroes after car fire rescue

EUCLID, Ohio

In the incredible video you can see the truck in a hot ball of fire after it rams into the side of a building. The driver was trapped inside the smoke-filled cab. Police say he was conscious but not responding to the officers shouts to get out.

The officers had to smash the truck's windows with their batons, then cut the seat belt so they could pull the man to safety.

"It's one of those things you don't think about it when you are doing it but you sit back after and go, 'wow that could have been a lot worse or gone a different way,' " said Jose Alcantara with the Euclid Police Department.

One of the officers was wearing an "on-body recording system," which captured the rescue on video.

The 38-year-old driver was not seriously injured. He was later arrested for DUI.
