The memorial to Officers Jim Capoot and Jeff Azuar was defaced with silver paint. We blocked some of the paint because it contains an obscenity. Police can't understand why anyone would do such a thing.
"And I think if that person were to just take a moment to think about the contribution that Officer Capoot specifically made to the youth of this community, I think that that person may think twice about vandalizing the sign, at least I hope that he or she would," said Vallejo Police Lt. Sid DeJesus.
Police may protect the memorial from future vandalism by putting Plexiglas on it.
