Father asks Boy Scouts to stop discriminating

SAN FRANCISCO

Eric Andreson is the father of Ryan Andreson, an East Bay boy scout denied his Eagle Award last October because he is gay.

The Boy Scouts of America is currently considering a proposal that would end the ban on gay youth. At a rally in San Francisco Friday, Eric and others urged the Boy Scouts to end its ban on gay youth.

"But even out of this big, black cloud that we've been under, there is a ray of sunshine, a rainbow of hope. Change is coming, my friends; and we're all here today to make sure that happens," said Eric.

If the proposal passes, the Boy Scouts would still maintain its ban on gay adult leaders and parents. The decision is expected May 23rd.
