Bay Area DUI crackdown over Memorial Day weekend

May 24, 2013 10:39:48 AM PDT
Starting Friday night, Bay Area police departments will put extra officers on the street to catch drunk drivers this Memorial Day holiday weekend.

The CHP and other departments in the "Avoid the Eight" task force will have every available officer patrolling from 7 p.m. until 3 a.m.

The San Francisco Police Department will set up DUI checkpoints for the same time Saturday night.

Police agencies say don't get behind the wheel if you've been drinking, or use a designated driver.
