A local basketball standout is facing murder charges in Atlanta.

Decensae White, 25, who just finished his senior year at San Francisco State University, was arrested in Redwood City last week. He graduated from Junipero Serra High School and played for Bobby Knight at Texas Tech, where his roommate was Michael Crabtree, now of the 49ers.

White is one of five men indicted in the murder of a rapper found shot to death outside a hospital where his girlfriend was giving birth.

The district attorney there called it an assassination, but didn't say how White may have been involved.
