The blaze was reported at about 8:15 a.m. at a shop at 10214 International Blvd. and was controlled about 15 minutes later, according to the department's Twitter page.
Julio's Automatic Transmission Shop is listed at that address.
Crews requested a second alarm shortly after arriving at the scene, then canceled the second alarm after gaining the upper hand on the fire, fire officials said.
No injuries have been reported.
