Man shot multiple times

It has been a very violent week in the Bay Area's largest city.

Friday a man was injured when he was shot multiple times. The shooting happened about 5 p.m. on Kollmar Drive near Ryan Elementary School, which was placed on lockdown.

The man was taken to the hospital in serious condition.

There have been eight shootings in San Jose in the past week. Four of those were fatal. Law enforcement officials believe Friday's shooting was gang-related.

An attempt to stop the violence

In an attempt to try and get a handle on the increased violence, San Jose police have added officers and will conduct saturation patrols around the city this weekend.

About 40 extra officers, SWAT teams and gang suppression units will be out targeting specific neighborhoods.
