Police say the big cat was spotted around 10 a.m., in the Neary Lagoon area, close to Felix Street.
Reverse 911 calls warned residents about the sighting. Officers also patrolled the area looking for the mountain lion.
Friday's sighting comes nearly a month after a mountain lion needed to be tranquilized after wandering in a Santa Cruz aqueduct. That lion was released into the Santa Cruz Mountains.
